Defend Parliament, defend democracy – stop the hate

Join us on the 5th December in Parliament Square - oppose Farage's attempt to curtail democracy

On December 5th, Nigel Farage will march on the Supreme Court to demand that the power to implement Article 50 is taken away from Parliament and handed back to Theresa May. He will be joined by fascist groups like the English Defence League (EDL) and Britain First.

We believe Farage’s demands threaten parliamentary democracy and the rule of law. In this country it is parliament – not the Prime Minister – that has the power to make and repeal law.

We must act now to defend democracy and say that no one, including the Prime Minister, should be above the constitution. The attacks on the High Court judges by parts of the media have also been bigoted, divisive and, in one case, even homophobic.

We will be there to stand against Farage. We are for an alternative to the nightmarish future of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and the rising tide of racism and authoritarianism. We are for a world run in the interests of people and the planet.

Another Europe is Possible is calling for a mass, peaceful gathering outside the Supreme Court to defend democracy and say no to hate. The government’s desire to prevent parliament from having a say over Article 50 is undemocratic and sets a dangerous precedent.

Whatever way you voted in the referendum, come together to say these bigoted attacks on judges by the media are a threat to our democracy and that Parliament must have a say on Brexit.

We live in dark times. It is our duty to light a candle and fight back.

Take the day off work.
