NEW VIDEO: Brexit & Islamophobia – how are they connected?

Watch online now.

19th December 2021

Islamophobia is a widespread but poorly understood phenomenon in the UK and across Europe. Islamophobic tropes were deeply embedded in the Leave campaign’s propaganda, inflecting Nigel Farage’s anti-immigration discourse and evident in Tommy Robinson’s brazen anti-Muslim hate speech.

In this panel discussion, journalist and Another Europe National Committee member Shaista Aziz, Left Foot Forward Editor Basit Mahmood, French civil rights activist Yasser Louati and Labour Councillor Amna Abdullatif (co-founder of the Three Hijabis campaign) discuss Islamophobia in wider society and their personal lives. The panel is chaired by Another Europe Communications and Campaigns Officer Seema Syeda.

This event took place online in November as part of Islamophobia Awareness Month.
